CFdesign makes it possible to analyze and optimize the design, placement, and performance of critical components and systems (such as hydraulics, pneumatics, valves, blowers, fans, pumps, compressors, heat sinks, heat exchangers, cooling fans, power supplies, manifolds, HVAC components, motors, turbomachinery, even entire electronics systems) while they are still on the “digital drawing board."
CFdesign reliably simulates a broad range of fluid flow and heat transfer scenarios. Highly automated functionality and built-in intelligence guide the user, making CFdesign an ideal desktop tool for beginners and advanced users.
Some of the key features:
User Interface – Native Windows interface shares “look & feel” of leading MCAD systems.
MCAD Integration – Native support of parts and assemblies from Pro/ENGINEER, Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire, Solidworks, Inventor, UGS NX, Solid Edge, CATIA, and any other MCAD system that utilizes ACIS, Granite, or Parasolid modeling kernels.
Structural CAE Integration – Automatically prepares the flow and heat transfer analysis results as an “input deck” for use with ABAQUS, ANSYS, Mechanica, and Nastran.
Automatic Mesh Generation – A robust tetrahedral mesh is quickly applied to even the most geometrically complex MCAD models.
Mesh Optimization Algorithm – Automatically accounts for very small features to assure simulation reliability.
Materials Database – A customizable database of commonly used fluids and solids is provided. Adding new materials is fast and easy.
Fluid Flow Regimes – Laminar and turbulent flow regimes: internal and external, incompressible, compressible (subsonic, transonic, and supersonic), steady state and transient, and two-phase.
Heat Transfer Regimes – Conduction, convection (natural, mixed, forced), conjugate (simultaneous conduction and convection), and radiation.
Interactive Graphical Convergence Monitor – Allows user to visualize simulation results as analyses are progressing.
Fast Track Analysis Option – An economical way to temporarily “scale up” simulation capabilities to handle peak demand driven by high-priority projects. Fast Track maximizes group computing resources and allows the completion of multiple design analyses in the time normally required for one.
Results Visualization – Shaded display modes, interactive clipping planes, particle trace animation, iso surface display and vector display modes can be visualized sequentially or collectively to open up a whole new world of product performance optimization.
