Predictive Engineering has been offering mechanical engineering analysis services for more than twenty years. We have over 800+ successful projects to our credit. Our work has been strain gauged, drop-tested, benchmarked, validated, proof tested, shaker-tabled and implemented in hundreds of designs. We have optimized structures from deep-diving submarines, tail rotor blades on a Sikorsky Helicopter, high-temperature hydrogen reactors, composite antenna systems, 3,000 HP transmissions, NQA-1 nuclear waste processing vessels to R&D satellites for the US Air Force. Additionally, we have extensive experience with LS-DYNA over the last 15 years and have done projects on: projectile impact, pyro-shock detonation, fracture of ductile and brittle materials, drop-testing of composite structures, electron-beam welding and impact of metal, plastic, elastomer and foam structures. Least we be too technical, we have also successfully modeled the shaker-table transport of French fries using the discrete element method (DEM).

We've held our biannual FEMAP trainings for so long now, you can set your seasonal clock by it. If it's spring or fall in Portland, you can count on FEMAP training.
Our next scheduled week-long course will be the week of April 24th. As always we'll take the user from the ground floor through FEA best practices. We'll then move into advanced subjects dealing with manifold and non-manifold surface modeling, detailed plate meshing, and tet versus hex meshing.
The fifth day of the course is optional for an additional cost of $575. It finishes with a focus on FEMAP's API interface, a key method for customization and automation.
We recently finished our first-ever online FEMAP API course. It was six sessions totalling over 9 hours of class notes, workshops and instruction. We'll be looking at future options, both for more live online classes and for a self-directed API course based on our new material.

Recently we just completed a coupled computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and finite element analysis (FEA) project on a "Power Augmentation" device that fits onto an existing 60kW gas turbine. The energy physics of this device is to spray water droplets into the inlet of the compressor side of the turbine, thereby increasing the mass density of the already 100% saturated air. This air-water mixture is then combusted with increased gas flow, yielding a 10 to 15% boost in energy output from the turbine. In other words, one can take a 60kW turbine and turbocharge it to ~70kW at no more than 1% of the original turbine cost.
